Efficient compressor control solutions from Hydrovane

To help users achieve the highest levels of system performance, Hydrovane has launched a simple to install sequencer called Pro Master 4 and a built-in electronic controller called Hydrovane Pro, to ensure the reliable and efficient operation of its fixed and regulated speed compressors.

The Hydrovane Pro Master 4 will intelligently sequence up to four compressors, fixed or regulated speed and can reduce energy consumption by up to 30%, by operating all of the compressors in the network to the narrowest pressure band.

Fitted to all 4 kW to 75 kW models in the Hydrovane range, the Hydrovane Pro controller continuously monitors the operational parameters of the compressor, helping to reduce overall running costs.

The controller’s second pressure setting matches compressor flow to plant demand with great efficiency. This reduces compressor idling and is particularly useful during periods of reduced production and when maintenance work is carried out.

Pro Master 4

Featuring four different pre-programmed sequences, the Pro Master 4 provides a solution for the specific requirements of any compressor installation. Compatible with Hydrovane compressors and other models in the Gardner Denver range, the unit’s real time clock also allows for automated time scheduled tasking.

Simple installation

Hydrovane has designed the Pro Master 4 to be very easy to install, with a series of on-screen prompts that guide the commissioning engineer through the set up and confirm when each parameter has been programmed correctly. Once each compressor is connected to the Pro Master 4, the engineer needs to enter only minimal information as the unit will identify all of the compressors in the system and will self-programme many stages. This ensures that the most efficient compressor combination is selected, thereby avoiding the risk and associated cost of offload running. In addition, where compressors of the same capacity are installed, an equal hours control strategy can be adopted that will equalise running hours so that no compressor is over or underused, reducing maintenance concerns and costs. Accessories such as dryers and filters are easily connected to the Pro Master 4, allowing them to be switched on and off at pre-programmed times.

Detailed performance data

The Pro Master 4 provides a variety of on-screen performance data, giving users a comprehensive overview of the complete system, including downstream equipment to help improve network performance. This can include information such as the status of each compressor connected, as well as network pressure, compressed air consumption and pressure range. In addition, the Pro Master 4 is available with a removable SD memory card, enabling data to be transferred to and analysed on a PC for the production of management reports.

Hydrovane Pro

The Hydrovane Pro’s real time clock and timer control enables users to start and stop their compressor at pre-set times. This allows the system to be pressurised prior to production, meaning users can have instant availability of compressed air at the start of a shift.

Greater fault analysis

The controller enables compressor inputs and outputs to be tested, and provides quick identification of any faults, which can result in reduced downtime. A detailed analysis of up to 20 faults can be stored, providing information including the time, date, temperature and pressure of the compressor when each fault occurred. A user-friendly, multi-lingual digital display uses words, not codes, to provide an easy to read instant overview of the compressor status. The controller is also flash programmable to allow any software upgrades to be quickly completed on site.

Remote monitoring

As well as on site monitoring, the Hydrovane Pro can also communicate with external interfaces, such as a PC, allowing for the remote control of the compressor. In addition, the controller can be easily connected to a range of sequencer technologies, such as the Hydrovane Pro Master 4, without the need for a gateway, allowing flexibility of use and an increase in energy reduction of multiple compressor applications.
